Vegetarianism : The foundation of peace and contentment

The food in our diet effects our thought processes. If we wish to be pure of mind, word, and action, we should have a pure diet, i.e. vegetarian diet. It is said that every human has hidden animal behavior hiding in a remote corner of the mind. If we want to overcome that trait within ourselves, we must give up meat products.

We need to stop harming other living beings for satisfying our taste buds. Additionally we should constantly try to protect our fellow beings from coming to any kind of harm. For that we should stick to a diet which is not only nutritious and balanced, but also harmless to other beings. Vegetarian food decides the way of life for any person. It purifies the mind and strengthens the body. It has been observed that pure vegetarian food leads to the development of good thoughts, and growth of compassion, mercy and forgiveness. We should always remember the fact that we eat to live and not live to eat. Food is a means to live, not the purpose of life.

Biology says that human beings are part of the animal kingdom. It is our wisdom and feelings which separate us from other animals. Mercy is the driving force behind the wish not to hurt or harm other beings. If we try to think a little deeply, we can easily realize that just like us, other beings also have a natural right to live their life. If life is nature, then killing of life is an unnatural distortion. Our food effects our physical as well as spiritual health. If we are non-vegetarian, we are automatically responsible for the killing of our "prey" and this violent killing causes unrest, disturbance and agitation. On the other hand, vegetarian food does not require any such violent act. This is the reason vegetarian diet brings peace to the soul and peace to the world.

We Want Peace!

An appeal from Pakistan
We want benevolence, we want love, we have to start showing that, by action. We have to love each other. We have to be benevolent to each other. We have to be benevolent to all. This violence and killing of human beings and animals is the sure sign that we don't want love, that we don't want compassion, that we don't want peace. It's the law of the universe, that if we kill or if we harm someone, we have to spend our spiritual merit with that creature. So how many animals we eat, we use all our spiritual bank account balance with those animals, and then we’re depleted, we get poorer and poorer, spiritually poorer. And if your spiritual merit balance is not enough, you end up paying with your health, your luck, and your's and your family members’ peace of mind. And then larger, we pay with peace in the world, we have to pay the price for having no peace. By killing animals to eat, we’re killing our planet. And then we all become murderers of some sort. So I want everyone to become heroes. Save the planet, stop killing and eating the animals...

Non-Violence vegetarianism & world peace

Niramish Introduction: Non-Violence and Vegetarianism

Niramish (also spelled as Niraamish) is a Sanskrit word, also used in several modern languages. The closest English word is vegetarian. Niramish (Sanskrit: निरामिष)  signifies a person who, as a principal, opposes all kinds of violence. Though the word "Vegetarian" was coined by the Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom in about 1847, the practice of vegetarianism is much older. The moral, spiritual and philosophical traditions of India supported every form of life and practiced non-violence in every walk of life. They experimented vigorously with plantation and farming and shunned meat as an alternative to human food.

This ancient form of vegetarianism is still practiced by a large section of people of Indian origin and spread all over the world by Indian philosophers, especially the followers of the various branches of Indian philosophies such as Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

Indians stressed on the importance of milk. They revered cow as mother and considered milk as part of their daily nutrition. The process was non-violent, non-exploitative and non-commercial. Though "Niramish" appears from this age-old tradition of lacto-vegetarianism, we support and promote various traditional and modern ideas of non-violence, vegetarianism and environment-friendly lifestyle.

The purpose of this blog is mainly to promote vegetarianism, compassion, non-violence and tolerance. Non-violence is the basis of all forms of life. It is the recipe for happiness on earth.  Niramish community blog is a humble effort to create awareness about a healthy lifestyle that is as violence-free as possible. Our main purpose is to promote non-violence and peace. If you want to know more about vegetarianism or if you are ready to adopt a healthy lifestyle, we are here to help you. Please be vegetarian for environment-friendliness and health.

Be a vegetarian, save the planet!
